| Job Description | The RCL FOODS Talent Acquisition Team is recruiting for an experienced Distribution Manager to join our Baking business unit, based in Polokwane. As the Distribution Manager, You will report in to the General Manager, and will be responsible for managing the Polokwane Bakery and 4 offsite Depots. You will be required to apply sound judgement, a high level of drive and positive influence so as to enable the distribution teams at the bakery and at the depots to manage the distribution facilities and resources to meet the required customer service level and sales volumes within the operational budget. |
| Minimum Requirements | Relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management preferred) 5 years distribution experience, at least 3 years of which is at a management level (experience in the bread baking industry would be advantageous) Continuous improvement, quality and safety experience in a manufacturing / distribution environment Exposure to a shop floor within a unionized environment |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Work with Bakery Manager on new distribution strategies to optimise the distribution costs and capitalise on information technology and industry innovation Maintain the effective and efficient use of distribution resources, procedures and controls to minimise losses, maximise customer service levels and maintain product integrity in all processes at the bakery and depots Ensure integrity and availability of the information to enable the sales function to maintain the highest possible customer service levels. Manage bread crates daily to minimise the replacement of crates and to ensure that the crate pool is sufficient to maintain order and service level fulfilment at the lowest possible cost. Drive continuous improvement strategy Matters of Safety, Health and the Environment will be an area of focus and will be managed in such a manner that compliance is achieved and continuous improvement programmes identify ongoing opportunities. Support the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems at the bakery and depots. Rigorous auditing and action planning will be required. Effectively maintain the appropriate human resource levels by the careful selection, retention and performance-based management of staff. Support the demand team to develop and launch new products and support the management of the projects through various stakeholder gates.
