WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLE?

The Insights Analyst will be required to develop a robust insights framework which will inform the business in Strategic Business Planning, focused on Trade Execution Excellence and tracking. An insight driven framework will allow the business to identify innovation opportunities to build our brands and expand our portfolio in a profitable manner. These Shopper/Category insights will steer, informed direction for the Commercial team to grow sales and market share.

THE IDEAL PROFILE FOR THIS ROLE WILL DRIVE THE FOLLOWING KPIS VS OUTPUTS:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Research

  • Lead research in the trade to extract trends. Identify and drive knowledge of latest Shopper/Customer and market trends with the broader Commercial team.
  • Conduct Shopper Research studies based on relevant needs of Commercial team and Sales drivers. Which should influence insights of sales, pricing, opportunity gaps for incremental volume.
  • Engage with Asked to do monthly checks on reports analyse and ensure reports delivered to regions for customer reviews and growth tracking purposes. Monthly internal data sense checked and sent to Asked to compile reports.
  • Use web portal and read through all reports take out highlights and share reports with regions on all macro- economic factors.

Analysis

  • Analyse reports and share with Regions as well as completing online surveys on each of the categories to take part and receive reports to understand category performance.
  • Analyse data from the SparQView portal & PicknPay smart shopper insights to compile credible dynamic data sets that will be translated into strategic presentations.
  • Analysis to create a deep understanding of promotional activity in the trade, frequency as well as depth length of promotions.

Reporting

  • Produce Quarterly reports by use of Nielsen data to build insights in Market size of the market and reading market share trends.
  • Understand competitive landscape, category insights and portfolio.
  •  Preparation and delivery of integrated reports drawing all pieces of information from multiple sources together and connecting the dots to form coherent and Monthly Insightful Reports for Strategic Reporting at C-suite.

Stakeholder Management

  • Building & Managing the following relationships
  • Internal: Commercial teams, IT, Distribution
  • External: Engage New Insights suppliers such as Trade Intelligence, Executrac, Afrigis monthly or on request.
  •  Insight Adhoc assistance for customer reviews and insights to land Customer Listings
  • Dashboard Scope Assistance by providing scope on dashboard developments and calculations/methodology to the IT team.

WHAT FORMER KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED?

QUALIFICATION/RELEVANT TRAINING

  • A Degree that encompasses: Economics, Statistics & Finance.
  • A Post grad in Business is advantageous.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ Years Previous FMCG product management marketing experience.
  • Sound Advanced technical data analysis abilities.
  • Understand very technical data models.
  • An eye for detail and highly numerate with very strong analytical thinking with proven ability to spot trends, synthesize and integrate learning from multiple sources and see the connections in data, trends, events to generate insights.
  • Represent insights in cross-functional team on Product, Market and Process Innovation
  • Ability to combine data, judgment, and experience to make effective decisions in complex situations and when there is a lot of uncertainty or ambiguity.
  • Advanced Project Management skills – to build a solution, manage timelines, manage internal stakeholders and final delivery of projects.
  • Advanced story telling. The work is complex, and you need to be able to bring stakeholders on the journey with you.
