Job Summary StatementMoolmans offers services across the mining value chain, from shaft sinking, underground development, contract mining and open cut mining, to construction of mine infrastructure. The operating group’s experience spans a broad range of commodities and it has worked successfully in remote and challenging locations. JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Overseeing of the effective Boilermaking, welding, repair and maintenance of all plant on site with the least disruption to the site. Attempt to achieve maximum availability for each item of plant on site.
Minimum RequirementsACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Grade 12 (preferred) or Technical qualification National Diploma – Mechanical engineering (preferred), alternatively at least qualified Artisan (Phase training completed and relevant Trade Test passed – Boilermaker or Welder trade certificate) EXPERIENCE: At least 3-5 years related work experience with supervisory experience. Apprenticeship (having served in a registered apprenticeship program and received a certificate of completion. Extensive Boilermaking/Welding experience as an Artisan and/ or foreman in a mining environment
Duties & ResponsibilitiesAdhere to organizational Safety and Quality requirements by complying with all PPE requirements as prescribed. Ensure compliance with organizational safety, health, environment and quality standards and procedures. Report any accident / incident immediately to your supervisor. Liaise with supervisors and Boilermakers on a daily basis; conduct tool inspections on a monthly basis; service according to Moolmans service card schedule; ensure all equipment and correct tooling are available to complete the work; service cards to be signed off on a daily basis Check and sign all service cards on a daily basis on items you have repaired; complete paperwork / component slips concerning repairs to units Sign and check all stores issues. Incorrect issues to be returned to store. Initiate all relevant disciplinary actions. Co-ordinate leave schedules of employees. Control staff and quality of work at all times. Responsible to control and discipline all employees under your control. Position will be expected to physically get involved in maintenance and repairs. Follow up on breakdowns as a matter of urgency. General tidiness and good housekeeping of workshop and other areas of responsibility. Inform production of any machine abuse. Inform Production Manager timeously if the maintenance / repairs are not completed in the scheduled time. Comply with ISO 9002 standards. Minimize fleet down time and treat with sense of urgency. Perform such other duties of a similar or related matter that may be assigned by management from time to time.
